Apple starts selling iPhone parts for repair in home conditions

Apple has begun selling iPhone parts so that Apple customers can repair their smartphones themselves. The program was called "Self-Repair". This was reported by 9To5Mac with reference to the company, Gazeta.Ru reports.

So far, the new service has been launched only in the United States and applies to a limited number of smartphone models: iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and third-generation iPhone SE. US users of these devices can order more than 200 different parts and tools from Apple's website.

Prices for spare parts are almost the same as in authorized service centers. For example, the battery for the iPhone 13 Pro will cost $71, which is $2 more than in the center. The display for the iPhone 13 costs $269, which, on the contrary, is $10 cheaper than going to the master.

As for the tools needed for repairs, they will be rented for $49 per week. The rent is due to the fact that, in addition to screwdrivers, the set includes, for example, an expensive press for fixing displays. In addition, they will rarely be used regularly.

Apple has already said that the self-service service will appear in Europe before the end of the year. In addition, in 2022 the company plans to start selling repair parts for new MacBooks with proprietary processors.
