Armenia secures supplies via new trade routes, PM says
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said there is no shortage of goods in the country and none is expected, citing the development of alternative trade routes.
Speaking at a briefing after a government meeting, Pashinyan, as reported by Armenian media and cited by Caliber.Az, said supply chains remain stable despite regional challenges.
“It is another matter with inflation: our ability to influence it is limited if goods become more expensive in their countries of origin,” he said.
Pashinyan highlighted the establishment of a new trade route linking Armenia with China via railway connections through Central Asia, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. He noted that, in the current context, this route has become an important alternative to transit paths through Iran.
At the same time, the prime minister emphasised that Armenia continues to view its connection with Iran as strategically important, regardless of circumstances.
He added that, following a resolution of the situation in Iran, Armenia is ready to proceed with the TRIPP project, expressing satisfaction that two countries friendly to Armenia are demonstrating positive momentum in negotiations.
According to Pashinyan, developing railway links between Iran and Armenia — and more broadly between the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea — would provide benefits to all countries in the region.
