Refrigerant leak injures four aboard Russian vessel in South Korea’s Busan

A refrigerant leak aboard the Russian fishing vessel Kaltan at Gamcheon Port in South Korea’s Busan injured at least four Russian citizens, the Russian Consulate General in Busan reports.

“Four people were injured, one of whom is in serious condition,” the diplomatic mission said in a statement. Doctors are providing medical assistance to those affected.

According to the consulate, the leak was detected on September 15 at around 8:37 a.m. local time. The vessel was at Gamcheon Port, which is located in Busan, the Republic of Korea’s second-most populous city.

Russian diplomats are maintaining constant contact with the captain of the Kaltan and local authorities. Information on the cause of the incident and the condition of other crew members is still being clarified.
