Armenian parliament postpones depriving 22 opposition MPs of mandate
The Council of the Armenian Parliament postponed the issue of depriving the mandate of 22 opposition deputies.
Consideration of the issue was postponed due to the absence of these deputies at the meeting, Caliber.Az reports via Sputnik Armenia with reference to the official website of the Parliament.
According to the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, in the absence of a deputy, the discussion of the issue is postponed for one week and resumed at a meeting of the Council convened on the day following the expiration of the weekly period, regardless of the presence of the said deputy at the meeting.
The secretary of the “Hayastan” faction Artsvik Minasyan confirmed that he and other deputies, whose issue was being worked out, did not participate in the meeting.
"We don't understand their behavior, so we decided not to participate. Let them decide what they want, it's their business. We told them to discuss whatever you want. We understand that this is a method of political blackmail, which is unacceptable for us, and from the legal point of view is disputable," said Minasyan.
According to him, if necessary, the deputies do not rule out the possibility of challenging the decision of the Council of Parliament in the Constitutional Court.
