Iranian president accuses Israel of assassination attempt, shares details
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused Israeli authorities of attempting but failing to assassinate him.
Speaking in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, Pezeshkian confirmed that he believes Israel attempted to kill him, which allegedly involved plans to bomb a meeting he was attending, Caliber.Az reports.
“They did try, yes, they acted accordingly but they failed," the president said in response to carlson's question whether he believed that the Israeli government tried to assassinate him.
He added that the United States was not behind the plot. According to Pezeshkian, the attempt came to light while he was in a meeting, and Iranian intelligence intercepted the plan in time.
"But I will tell you that I am not afraid of sacrificing myself in defence of my country and in safeguarding and defending the sovereignty, the freedom and the independence of my country. I’m willing to give my life, to give blood for that. None of the government officials are afraid of losing their lives in line of defence. But will it bring security to the region? I mean bloodshed, more bloodshed, assasination, killing. Will it bring peace and tranquility and stability to the region?” the president said.
