Trump sends letter to Kazakh president, offering reshore manufacturing to US
U.S. President Donald Trump has sent a letter to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announcing that, starting August 1, 2025, the United States will impose a 25% tariff on all goods imported from Kazakhstan.
Trump shared the letter via his Truth Social account, as per Caliber.Az.
“There will be no Tariff if Kazakhstan, or companies within country, decide to build or manufacture product within the United States, and in fact, we will do everything possible to get approvals quickly and professionally and routinely — In other words, in a matter of weeks,” the letter states.
The U.S. president sent similar letters today to the leaders of Malaysia (25% tariff), Laos (40%), South Africa (30%), Myanmar (40%), Japan (25%), and South Korea (25%).
