Iranian president denies Trump assassination plot
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has denied claims that Iran ever supported an assassination attempt on US President Donald Trump, stating the allegations are part of a disinformation campaign led by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, Pezeshkian dismissed the accusations, Caliber.Az reports.
“This is actually what Netanyahu is trying to insinuate and to make your people and the president of your country believe. But this is wrong because Netanyahu, who as I said, has his own agenda. It wants to drag the US into forever wars, as I said, and to bring more insecurity and unrest into the whole region,” he said.
Pezeshkian emphasised that his government supports resolving tensions with the United States through peaceful means.
“I am very much of the belief that we could very easily resolve our differences and conflict with the United States through dialogue and talks,” he said, adding that it was Netanyahu who undermined previous diplomatic efforts.
The Iranian leader also reiterated Tehran’s openness to rejoining negotiations but voiced concerns about trust and security, particularly in light of recent regional tensions.
“How can we trust the United States again?” Pezeshkian asked.
