Kremlin in dark over US military plane landing in Moscow UPDATED

The Kremlin has no information about the US military transport aircraft that landed in Moscow on August 25, Russsian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

“No, I do not have such information,” Peskov said when asked whether the Kremlin could comment on the aircraft’s arrival and provide details about a possible US visit.

The US Air Force Boeing C-17 Globemaster III reportedly departed from Joint Base Andrews near Washington and flew to Moscow via Riga, landing in the Russian capital at around 10:00 a.m. Moscow time.

The purpose of the aircraft’s arrival remains unclear, and no official information has been released regarding any delegation or mission associated with the flight.

Peskov also said that no meetings with representatives of the US administration are scheduled at the Kremlin this week, further adding to uncertainty surrounding the aircraft’s arrival.

A US Air Force Boeing C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport on the morning of August 25, flight-tracking data confirmed.

The aircraft, operating under the call sign RCH4555, arrived in Moscow after making a stop in Riga, Latvia, on August 23, Flightradar24 reports.

The aircraft’s previous flight history shows Camp Springs, Maryland, among its departure points. Joint Base Andrews, a major US military installation near Washington, D.C., is located in Camp Springs and hosts aircraft used to transport the US president and other senior government officials.

The purpose of the aircraft’s arrival in Moscow remains unclear. No official information has been released regarding the reason for the flight or any potential US delegation associated with it.
