Former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan has been taken to the National Security Service (NSS), opposition lawmaker Anna Grigoryan reported on Tuesday, August 25, as anti-corruption authorities carried out widespread raids across the country.

Earlier in the morning, security officers searched the home of the former president's son, Levon Kocharyan. Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee subsequently confirmed the raid, clarifying that the action was part of a broader ongoing investigation into alleged financial crimes.

“Within the framework of criminal proceedings conducted by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia into cases of corruption crimes, searches and other procedural actions are being carried out at several dozen addresses,” said Marina Ohanjanyan, press secretary for the Anti-Corruption Committee.

The committee added that further details would be released as necessary. Further circumstances surrounding Robert Kocharyan’s presence at the NSS remain undisclosed.
