Lukashenko urges Russia to clear hurdles over joint Osvey aircraft

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has called for the resolution of outstanding issues surrounding the joint Belarusian-Russian Osvey aircraft project, stressing its importance for the two countries’ common market.

Lukashenko made the remarks during a meeting with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, BelTA reports.

“There are some misunderstandings there, but I think we will discuss them now so that the Osvey will ultimately become a reality,” Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian president said the aircraft would serve the needs of the Union State’s common market and provide Belarus with an opportunity to develop new expertise in the aviation industry.

“It is needed for our, well, as they like to say these days, common market. Naturally, it will be a good aircraft for Russia, while for us, it means acquiring new competencies,” Lukashenko said.
