Kazakhstan may introduce mandatory health insurance for foreign tourists

Kazakhstan is considering introducing mandatory health insurance for foreign tourists, with the insurance policy covering emergency and urgent medical care, medical transportation and repatriation.

Kazakhstan’s Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market said insurance coverage is expected to be verified digitally through the integration of insurance companies’ information systems with those of government agencies, Caliber.Az reports, Kazakh media.

The initiative is included in the draft Insurance Market Development Programme through 2030. The reform also proposes moving to a unified model of mandatory insurance and introducing a risk-based approach to setting insurance premiums.
