Attacks on CPC infrastructure knock Kazakhstan’s oil target lower

25 August 2026 12:42

Kazakhstan has revised down its 2026 oil production target to 96 million tons from 98 million tons following disruptions caused by attacks on the infrastructure of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).

Kazakh Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov said that the attacks had resulted in an estimated loss of around 3.5 million tons of oil production, Kazinform reports.

Kazakhstan had initially planned to increase output to nearly 100 million tons in 2026. However, disruptions affecting the CPC infrastructure have forced the government to adjust its production expectations.

The CPC pipeline is a key export route for Kazakh crude, transporting oil from major fields in Kazakhstan to the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk for international markets.
