Kazakhstan records earthquake near Almaty

An earthquake was recorded in Kazakhstan on the evening of August 24, with tremors felt in parts of the east of the country.
The network of seismic stations operated by the National Scientific Centre for Seismological Observations and Research of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations registered the earthquake at 19:31 Astana time, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
The epicentre was located in Kazakhstan, 257 km south-east of Almaty, at coordinates of 49.117° north latitude and 84.500° east longitude.
In the village of Ulken Naryn in the East Kazakhstan Region, the estimated intensity of the tremors was two points.
No casualties or damage were reported.
