IRGC: Iran to strike vital US interests in region

Iran will strike vital US interests in the region and key energy facilities if the country’s infrastructure comes under threat, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesman Hossein Mohebbi has said.

He noted that contrary to the enemy’s assumptions that Iran’s missile stockpiles are limited, production of Iran’s smart precision-guided missiles is continuing, Caliber.Az reports, citing Press TV.

His remarks came in response to the expansion of US sanctions, which Washington has dubbed the “Economic Outcast” operation. According to Washington, the new sanctions are aimed at cutting off Tehran’s economic “lifeline.”

Iranian Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh confirmed that Tehran was fully prepared for the US sanctions.

“Naturally, the enemies ⁠intend to launch an economic terrorist attack on us, but we also have our own tools and know how to play the game,” he told Reuters.

The “Economic Outcast” measures target individuals, organisations and vessels that Washington believes help Tehran generate revenue from oil exports.

Entities in China, the UAE, Hong Kong, Singapore and Europe will be subject to the restrictions.

The sanctions have not yet taken effect, as the US will give individuals and organisations a chance to change their behaviour.
