Russian emergencies minister arrives in Baku
Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov has arrived in Baku to take part in a meeting of the Executive Council of the International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO), TASS reports, citing the ministry’s press service.
"Today, the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, Alexander Kurenkov, arrived in Azerbaijan to participate in the meeting of the Executive Council and the General Assembly of the International Civil Defence Organisation, which brings together emergency services from over 60 countries and provides humanitarian assistance worldwide," the ministry stated.
The Russian minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings in Baku with counterparts from other countries.
"The Russian Emergencies Ministry holds leading positions on the international stage in providing humanitarian assistance to countries affected by emergencies. We always adhere to the principles of openness and mutual respect toward our strategic partners," the press service quoted the minister as saying.
