Russia shoots down three Ukrainian drones over Belgorod
On the night of July 7 to 8, the Russian armed forces shot down three Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over Russia’s Belgorod Region, the Russian Defence Ministry said on July 8.
According to the ministry, air defence systems on duty intercepted and destroyed the drones between 10:30 p.m. on July 7 and 7:00 a.m. on July 8.
"Between 22:30 on July 7 and 07:00 on July 8, three Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by air defence systems over the territory of Belgorod Region," the ministry said in a statement, as cited by Caliber.Az.
There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the incident.
For the record, this is the latest in a series of escalating drone attacks targeting Russian territory. On the night of July 4–5, Russian air defences intercepted and destroyed 94 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones across multiple regions. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, 34 UAVs were shot down over the Voronezh region, 11 over Bryansk, nine each over Belgorod and Saratov, eight over Novgorod, six over Kursk, three each over Leningrad and Oryol, two each over Rostov, Smolensk, Ryazan, and the Chuvash Republic, and one each over Moscow, Penza, and Tula regions.
