Armenian Prime Minister to skip upcoming EAEU Intergovernmental Council meeting

13 August 2025 13:15

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has confirmed that he will not attend the forthcoming meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states, scheduled for August 15 in Kyrgyzstan.

Pashinyan’s press secretary, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, stated that the Prime Minister will be on vacation from 12 to 15 August inclusive, rendering his participation in the summit impossible, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

The meeting is expected to focus on several critical agenda items, including approaches to regulating the climate agenda and strategic planning for 2024 to 2026. Additionally, the council will deliberate on the main directions and action plan for implementing a coordinated transport policy among EAEU member states. Another significant topic will be the coordination of a unified concept for the development of common markets for medicines within the union.

The EAEU, comprising Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, continues to pursue closer economic integration, despite varying national priorities and occasional political divergences among member states. The outcomes of this meeting are anticipated to influence the union’s policy direction over the coming years, particularly in addressing shared challenges such as climate change and regional trade facilitation.
