ASTRA: Drone strike ignites major oil depot in Russia's Tver region PHOTO / VIDEO
A fire broke out at an oil depot in the Russian city of Tver after an overnight drone attack, according to regional authorities and the independent news outlet ASTRA.
Residents of the Tver region reported hearing explosions during the night of July 9. Following an analysis of eyewitness footage, ASTRA said the blaze appeared to have engulfed the Tvernefteprodukt oil depot, a fuel storage facility operated by SO Tvernefteprodukt, a subsidiary of Surgutneftegas.
The company supplies petrol and diesel fuel to its network of 52 filling stations and wholesale customers across the region.
Tver Region Governor Igor Rudenya said one of the depot's storage tanks caught fire while air defences were repelling a UAV attack. He said emergency services had contained the blaze and that an operational headquarters had been established to coordinate the response and ensure the facility's safety.
According to the governor, there were no preliminary reports of casualties among civilians or depot personnel.
