ASTRA: Saratov Oil Refinery suspends operations after Ukrainian attack
The Saratov Oil Refinery in Russia's Saratov Oblast temporarily halted operations following an attack by Ukrainian forces during the night of December 12 to 13, according to the Russian Telegram channel ASTRA.
This marks the tenth attack on the facility this year.
On the night of December 12 to 13, Ukrainian drones launched a large-scale attack on Saratov. One of the drones struck a residential building, killing two people, according to local authorities. Regional officials did not report on the attack targeting the oil refinery.
ASTRA sources have confirmed that as a result of the strike on PJSC Saratov Oil Refinery, an electrical cable was damaged. The refinery’s operations were suspended for several hours, until 6 a.m. local time, according to sources in the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Earlier, the Saratov refinery was attacked on November 11. Previous attacks occurred on November 3, November 14, and November 28. According to ASTRA’s calculations, the December 13 attack represents at least the tenth strike on the facility since the beginning of 2025.
Saratov Oil Refinery, operated by Rosneft, is one of the oldest oil processing enterprises in Russia. As of 2023, its oil processing volume reached 4.8 million tons.
