AZAL among top six airlines in Georgian aviation market — key figures revealed

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has strengthened its regional standing by ranking among the top six carriers in Georgia’s aviation market, the data by Georgian Civil Aviation Agency stated. Over the first nine months of 2025, AZAL transported 358,291 passengers, capturing 6% of the total market share and solidifying its position as one of the leading foreign airlines operating in Georgia.

Georgia’s aviation sector continued its upward trajectory in 2025, posting double-digit growth in both passenger and flight volumes. From January to September, passenger traffic at Georgian airports rose by 14%, while the number of flights increased by 18% compared to the same period last year, Caliber.Az reports.

The country’s airports handled a total of 6,489,755 passengers in the first nine months of 2025, up from 5,682,304 during the corresponding period in 2024,

The number of flights operating through Georgian airspace reached 229,972 during the same period. Air cargo transportation also demonstrated remarkable growth, with volumes soaring by 50% to reach 25.9 million tons.

Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air maintained its leadership position, transporting 1,065,618 passengers and securing a 17% market share. It was followed by Georgian Airways (8%), Turkish Airlines (7%), Pegasus Airlines (7%), Red Wings (6%), and Azerbaijan Airlines (6%).
