Azerbaijan Airlines cancels several flights amid Middle East tensions

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has announced the cancellation and temporary suspension of several international flights due to the escalating security situation in the Middle East and the closure of airspace by multiple countries.

In a press release issued on June 16, AZAL stated that the following flights scheduled for June 16 have been cancelled:

• Baku – Dammam – Baku (J2 8205/8206)

• Baku – Bahrain – Baku (J2 505/506)

• Baku – Riyadh – Baku (J2 8203/8204)

• Baku – Lahore – Baku (J2 145/146)

In addition, flights on two key routes will be temporarily suspended:

• Baku – Tel Aviv – Baku (suspension period: June 18–30)

• Baku – Tehran – Baku (suspension period: June 19–30)

The airline emphasised that ensuring the safety of passengers and crew remains its top priority and that operational decisions are being made in real time as the situation develops.

“AZAL continues to closely monitor the situation, placing utmost priority on flight safety, and promptly makes necessary operational decisions. Passengers will be informed in a timely manner about any changes to the flight schedule,” the statement read.

Passengers affected by the cancellations or suspensions are entitled to a full refund or a free rebooking for a later date. AZAL has advised travellers to contact the airline directly via email at callcenter@azal.az for assistance.
