Azerbaijan Airlines hits historic highs with 17,000 flights, 4 million passengers in 2024
President of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) Samir Rzayev has announced that in 2024, AZAL operated over 17,000 flights across 63 destinations, marking a 43 per cent increase compared to the period before the COVID-19 pandemic (2019).
AZAL served over 4 million passengers last year, achieving a 50 per cent growth compared to 2019 and setting a historic record, Caliber.Az reports, citing Rzayev’s message on Facebook.
"Over the past 20 years, AZAL has steadily developed, achieving significant success. During this time, world-class airports and terminals have been built in the country, including those in the liberated territories, and the airline's fleet has been modernised and expanded," he wrote.
Rzayev also reminded that AZAL and Heydar Aliyev International Airport have repeatedly been awarded the prestigious "5 Stars" from Skytrax, along with other international accolades.
"The implementation of projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals has created a solid foundation for further growth. Remaining true to its traditions, AZAL continues offering high-level services to passengers," he added.
