Azerbaijan, Cuba expand ties in healthcare sector
Azerbaijani Minister of Health Teymur Musayev has met with Ambassador of Cuba to Azerbaijan, Carlos Enrique Valdés de la Concepción, to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector.
During the meeting held at the Ministry, Musayev welcomed the ambassador and praised the strong and exemplary partnership between the two countries in the fields of healthcare and medical science, the Ministry’s press service told Caliber.Az.
Musayev highlighted the Azerbaijani delegation’s 2023 visit to Cuba, during which high-level meetings were held with Cuban officials, including Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz. The delegation also toured leading Cuban medical and pharmaceutical institutions to explore opportunities for cooperation. A key outcome of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the health ministries of the two countries.
Expressing optimism about the future of bilateral relations, Minister Musayev stated that ongoing collaboration would continue to yield productive results.
Ambassador Valdés de la Concepción echoed these sentiments, noting Cuba’s keen interest in deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan. “Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, ties between our two countries have consistently grown stronger across various sectors,” he said.
The ambassador underscored the significance of the signed memorandum, stating that it will contribute meaningfully to the advancement of healthcare and medical science cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on other matters of mutual interest.
