Azerbaijan holds hearings of two parliamentary committees in Shusha
The joint hearings of two more parliamentary committees - the Committee for Public Associations and Religious Entities and the Committee for Human Rights were held in Azerbaijan’s Shusha city on April 27.
The agenda of the joint meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for Public Associations and Religious Entities and the Committee for Human Rights included three issues, APA informs.
Members of both committees were present at the meeting.
The issues on the agenda of the meeting were as follows:
1. Hearings on measures to restore religious monuments in Azerbaijani territories liberated from Armenia’s occupation;
2. The Great Return [of Azerbaijani people to the liberated lands]: hearings on the place and role of international law and humanitarian institutions in ensuring land and property rights for internally displaced people;
3. Year of Shusha: hearings on the international legal, regional and humanitarian results of the victory in Karabakh region.
The memory of Azerbaijani heroes who died in the struggle for the liberation of Azerbaijani lands was revered by a minute of silence at the beginning of the event, press and public relations department of the Azerbaijani parliament told APA.
Then Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani parliament, Chairman of the Committee for Public Associations and Religious Entities Fazail Ibrahimli informed about the agenda.
Ibrahimli said that three topics were included in the agenda of the joint hearings.
Then, hearings on such topics as “Measures to restore religious monuments in the territories liberated from occupation”, “The Great Return and Reintegration: the place and role of international law and humanitarian organizations in ensuring the rights of internally displaced people to land and property” and “The Year of Shusha as a continuation of the victory in Karabakh: international legal, regional and humanitarian results” were held.
Then Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights Zahid Oruj delivered a speech. Oruj analyzed the situation over the past 30 years.
While speaking about the role of Shusha in the social and political life of the country, the chairman of the committee spoke about the trips of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the liberated lands, and in particular, to Shusha.
The MPs also spoke about the geostrategic position of Shusha in the South Caucasus, its role in Azerbaijan’s socio-political and cultural life of Azerbaijan.
This concluded the joint hearings of the parliamentary committees – the Committee of Public Associations and Religious Entities and the Human Rights Committee in Shusha.
