Azerbaijan launches catering portal for COP29 with sustainable focus

As preparations intensify for COP29, scheduled to take place in Baku on November 11-22, Azerbaijan has introduced a dedicated portal for organizing catering services at the climate conference.

The conference aims to ensure a positive visitor experience by streamlining access to catering, accommodation, transportation, and other amenities, Caliber.Az reports per COP29 official page.

To facilitate catering services, the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company has launched a dedicated portal that will feature various catering options available at the event venue.

This unified platform is designed to enhance convenience for participants and reflects the diverse culinary preferences of visitors, offering choices such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and halal meals. Attendees in both the Green Zone and Blue Zone can use the portal to place individual meal orders and arrange tea and lunch breaks, as well as snack provisions for their guests.

All catering services at COP29 will adhere to sustainability principles. By prioritizing local and seasonal ingredients, the initiative aims to reduce the carbon footprint associated with food transportation and support local farmers.

Additionally, to minimize waste at the venue, catering providers will be encouraged to limit the use of single-use plastics and adopt environmentally friendly practices in food preparation, storage, and service.

To uphold high standards of professional service and ensure compliance with food safety regulations, the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company has equipped its staff with the necessary training.

The Conference of the Parties (COP) takes place annually, with the presidency rotating among the five recognized UN regions. This year, Azerbaijan has been designated as the host for the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29), set to occur in Baku this November. Known for its strong history of hosting international events, Azerbaijan has selected Baku Stadium as the venue for the conference.

To ensure a process that is transparent, fair, and inclusive, the COP29 Presidency has created a plan built on two complementary pillars aimed at increasing ambition and facilitating action.
