Azerbaijan, Pakistan discuss military co-op PHOTO/VIDEO
Azerbaijani Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov received a delegation led by Chief of Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Gen Syed Asim Munir on November 1.
The Pakistani delegation is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.
Before the meeting, the Pakistani delegation visited the Alley of Martyrs and paid tribute to the memory of sons of the Motherland, who became martyrs for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Hasanov stressed that bilateral and trilateral military cooperation among Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Türkiye is based on friendly and fraternal relations, highlighted the reforms carried out in the Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev.
General Munir thanked for hospitality and expressed condolences over martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty.
The chief of Pakistan’s Army Staff emphasised the importance of such meetings for the development of Azerbaijani-Pakistani military cooperation and highlighted the necessity for staff talks and expansion of relations between headquarters of the types of troops of the two countries’ armies.
The issues of cooperation between the two countries in the military, military-technical, military-educational and other spheres were also discussed at the meeting.
First Deputy Defence Minister, Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Army Karim Valiyev also met the Pakistani delegation.
At the meeting, the sides mentioned that military relations and strategic partnership between the two countries are developing. The significance of increasing the intensity of bilateral and trilateral joint exercises was also stressed.
Then, a meeting was conducted at the Azerbaijani Air Force headquarters with Deputy Minister of Defence, Commander of the Air Force Ramiz Tahirov. The views on a number of issues of mutual interest were exchanged.
