Azerbaijan rejects French Senate allegations as unfounded & biased
Allegations against Azerbaijan and the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) in the French Senate Commission's report on "Combating harmful foreign interference" are baseless, biased, and misleading.
"Azerbaijan is mentioned in the report as a new rival state threatening ‘from all azimuths’, and the activities of our country in the name of international peace and stability are presented in a completely wrong light to mislead the French public, to present Azerbaijan as an enemy, to purposefully denigrate the great work done by BIG in the direction of decolonization,” Caliber.Az reports via BIG executive director Abbas Abbasov.
“The major mission of BIG is to inform the world community about the consequences of the policy of colonialism and neo-colonialism, to support the peoples suffering from colonialism in their just struggle within the framework of international law. Even though only one year has passed since the establishment of the Baku Initiative Group, BIG has held more than 10 international conferences at the UN headquarters in New York, Geneva, and Vienna, as well as in different countries of the world. At these events, participants were presented with information exposing France's colonial and neo-colonial crimes, and petitions were filed.
“We declare that BIG only supports the fight against colonialism, and neo-colonialism and in no way aims to destabilize French society. On the contrary, it is France that is pursuing a policy aimed at aggravating international relations and diverting attention from its domestic problems. We call on the French government to listen to the justified demands of the people enslaved in the colonies and fulfill them," Abbas Abbasov stressed.
