Azerbaijan repatriates over 200 citizens under EU readmission deals
The State Migration Service of Azerbaijan has repatriated 219 individuals to the country in the first half of this year.
According to the agency’s Public Relations Department, the majority of those returned were repatriated from European countries, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The process was carried out under readmission agreements signed by Azerbaijan with relevant partner states.
Separately, in the first half of 2025, Azerbaijan deported 1,007 foreigners for violating migration laws.
Authorities issued 9,714 decisions on the legal status of foreigners and detained 4,246 individuals for residing illegally—due to overstaying, unauthorised work, or unregistered addresses.
While some were deported, others were allowed to legalise their status or leave voluntarily. The Service also uncovered 11 cases of organised illegal migration.
