Azerbaijan, Rwanda forge closer links through education, diplomacy

15 July 2026 15:18

Azerbaijan and Rwanda are strengthening their partnership through closer cooperation in diplomacy and education, Rwandan Ambassador to Azerbaijan Charles Kayonga has said, highlighting a series of high-level meetings held in Baku.

Kayonga said he attended events marking Azerbaijan's Diplomacy Day, during which he held several meetings aimed at enhancing bilateral relations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The ambassador met with Deputy Minister of Science and Education Hasan Hasanli to discuss opportunities for expanding cooperation in the education sector.

Kayonga commended Azerbaijan's scholarship programs for Rwandan students, describing them as an important opportunity for young people to pursue higher education and gain professional qualifications in disciplines that are not readily available in many countries.

According to the ambassador, the educational initiatives reflect the continued strengthening of the longstanding friendship between Azerbaijan and Rwanda and demonstrate the shared determination of both countries to broaden cooperation in diplomacy, education, and other areas of mutual interest.

Kayonga also held talks with Elmaddin Mehdiyev, Head of the African Department at Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the two sides reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and discussed avenues for further expanding cooperation across a range of sectors.
