Azerbaijan's defence ministry announces planned ammunition disposal
Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defence has announced that unusable ammunition will be disposed of at a military test site near the village of Pirekeshkyul between June 22 and June 25.
In a statement, the ministry said the disposal operations would be carried out in accordance with established safety procedures and regulations, Caliber.Az reports.
Authorities warned that residents in surrounding areas may hear explosion sounds during the process but stressed that the activity is planned and poses no threat to public safety.
"The disposal of unusable ammunition will be conducted under strict safety measures," the ministry said, urging the public not to be alarmed by the sounds associated with the operation.
"There is no cause for concern," the statement added.
The Ministry of Defence called on local residents and the wider public to remain calm and rely on official information regarding the planned activities.
