Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office initiates case against another Armenian separatist
Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General's Office Investigation Department has conducted an investigation on the video message of a man in military uniform residing in Azerbaijan’s Khankandi city and introducing himself as Karen Matevosyan.
The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office told Caliber.Az that the video message was published in Russian on Telegram and other information resources on August 21.
The video depicts Matevosyan, addressing Armenians living in Azerbaijan’s Garabagh region, calling this territory an illegal "Artsakh Republic", as well as calling himself a commander of illegal armed formations of "self-defence" on the territory of the Garabagh region, expressing hatred towards the Azerbaijani people, calling on Armenians to unite and continue the fight against Azerbaijan, incites national hatred and discord, etc.
On August 22, criminal proceedings were initiated under Article 279.1 ("Establishment of armed formations or groups not provided by Azerbaijan’s legislation, as well as participation in their establishment and activity, supplying them with weapons, ammunition, explosives, military hardware or military equipment") and Article 283.1 ("Incitement of national, racial, social or religious hatred and enmity, actions aimed at inciting national, racial, social or religious hatred and enmity, humiliation of national dignity").
