Azerbaijan’s top prosecutor takes part in COP-30 climate session in Brazil
A delegation led by Kamran Aliyev, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has arrived in Brazil to participate in the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP-30) in Belém.
During the conference, a plenary session titled “The role of prosecutors’ offices in climate governance” will take place, where Aliyev is scheduled to speak, Caliber.Az reports.
He will address the role of law enforcement agencies in climate management and highlight the importance of strengthening international cooperation in tackling climate challenges.
This session follows on from COP-29, held in Baku, where a high-level event on “Mobilisation of Law Enforcement Agencies in Combating Climate Change” was organised in the Blue Zone. That session was initiated by the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan in cooperation with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and co-chaired by the Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates.
The COP-30 session in Brazil is seen as a logical continuation of the Baku event, furthering the dialogue on how law enforcement can support global climate governance.
