Azerbaijan seizes over 21 kilograms of cannabis on border with Iran
Azerbaijan’s State Border Service said it has seized more than 21 kilograms of cannabis during an operation along the country’s border with Iran, as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking.
The drugs were intercepted within the service area of the “Horadiz” border detachment under the Command of the Border Troops, the agency said in a statement, Caliber.Az reports.
According to officials, 21 kilograms and 300 grams of cannabis were discovered and confiscated during coordinated border search and operational measures. The shipment was being smuggled from Iran into Azerbaijan.
The State Border Service said measures to ensure the protection of the state border and to counter the illegal circulation of narcotics, psychotropic substances and their precursors are continuing.
Operational and investigative actions related to the case are ongoing, authorities said.
