Azerbaijan-Somalia political talks focus on economic, multilateral ties PHOTO
An Azerbaijani government delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and Somalia's officials have discussed the potential for expanding cooperation in several spheres.
The Azerbaijani delegation is on a visit to Somalia on February 4-5. During the visit, the sides discussed the potential for expanding cooperation in such spheres as oil and gas, green energy, agriculture, fisheries, as well as the humanitarian and educational sectors, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
As part of the visit, the first round of political consultations was held between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Somalia.
During the consultations, issues regarding the development of bilateral political and economic ties, cooperation within the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and other international organisations were discussed.
The Azerbaijani government’s delegation included representatives from the Defence Ministry, Ministry of Defense Industry, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Science and Education, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Agriculture, and ASAN Service.
According to the message of Somalia’s embassy in Türkiye on X, Somalia's State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ali Omar and Somalia's non-resident ambassador to Azerbaijan Fathudin Ali Mohamed greeted the high-level delegation led by Rafiyev at Mogadishu Aden Adde International Airport.
During his two-day visit, the Azerbaijani delegation is engaging with various Somalian officials and discussing a broad range of issues of mutual concern to both nations.
