Azerbaijan, UN discuss Baku’s new child rights action plan
Azerbaijan is working to align its national values with international obligations in the development of a new “Action Plan for the Protection of Children’s Rights for 2026–2030,” a move officials say will help ensure the safe and sustainable development of future generations.
Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Bahar Muradova made the remarks during a meeting with Sophie Kiladze, an expert from the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Muradova noted that international expertise and support are vital in identifying key priorities and shaping the upcoming strategy on child protection. She emphasised that the new action plan seeks to establish a comprehensive framework for safeguarding children’s rights, combining Azerbaijan’s traditional societal values with internationally recognised standards.
The plan is part of the country's broader efforts to strengthen child welfare systems and uphold its commitments under international human rights treaties.
