Azerbaijani Armed Forces celebrate Gurban Bayram with multiple events
On June 7, the Azerbaijani Army held a series of events across its various branches, units, formations, and special military educational institutions in observance of Gurban Bayram (Eid al-Adha).
The ceremonies commenced with a moment of silence to honour the memory of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, as well as martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, Caliber.Az reports.
The State Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was then played.
Military personnel received greetings from President Ilham Aliyev, who is also the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and from the Minister of Defence, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, on the occasion of the holiday.
Sacrificial offerings were made with the participation of service members, followed by the laying out of festive tables.
Throughout the events, organisers emphasised Azerbaijan’s identity as a humane and tolerant nation that deeply values Islamic, universal human, and national-spiritual principles, treating these with the utmost respect.
Videos and documentaries were presented to the personnel, highlighting the national-spiritual values of the Azerbaijani people and the noble ideals of Islam.
In accordance with the Minister of Defence’s directives for the Gurban Bayram celebrations, visits were made to the graves of martyrs in Baku and other regions of Azerbaijan. Families of the fallen heroes, as well as servicemen injured during combat operations, were also visited. During these visits, congratulations from the Ministry of Defence leadership were delivered, and festive gifts were presented.
