Azerbaijani chess player wins international tournament in UAE
Azerbaijani chess player Mahammad Muradli has become the winner of the Dubai Open Chess Tournament 2024, organised in the United Arab Emirates.
Muradli, who started the last round as a leader, played a draw in the final match on June 2, according to Report.
Moreover, the match between Muradli and Chinese chess player Dai Changren ended in a draw in the ninth round.
Thus, Muradli, who scored seven points in nine rounds, won the Dubai Open and received $16,000.
Another Azerbaijani chess player Eltaj Safarli, who scored 6.5 points in the tournament, shared 2-6 places.
A total of 200 players representing 28 countries are competing at the 24th edition of the Dubai Open Chess Tournament.
The Dubai Chess and Culture Club is hosting the prestigious tournament from May 25 to June 2, 2024.
