Azerbaijani liberated lands’ renewable energy potential disclosed
The potential of solar and wind energy in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories is about 10,000 Megawatt.
The Azerbaijani former communication and high technologies minister, Director-General of the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), academician Ali Abbasov, made the remarks in an interview with Report.
Azerbaijan's current demand for renewable energy sources is 7,900-8,000 MW, he noted.
"Our institute will be actively involved in identifying the potential of renewable energy sources in the liberated territories in line with the Action Plan of the Cabinet of Ministers for the creation of the 'green energy zone' in 2026. This is a very important issue for our country. The task before us is to carry out a mathematical calculation and computer simulation of the available potential and provide the best option,” the academician added.
