Azerbaijani ministries: Radiation levels remain normal near Iranian border
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and Ministry of Digital Development and Transport have issued a joint statement confirming that radiation levels remain stable in the country’s border regions with Iran, including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Regular radiation measurements are conducted at 30 monitoring points using specialised equipment. The recent surveys have detected no instances of increased natural radiation in the environment, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“Automated stations of the Environmental Monitoring Centre under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources operate across the country, including border regions. These stations carry out daily radiation background monitoring. Based on current observations, no radioactive contamination of the air has been recorded,” the statement said.
Additionally, the Nuclear Research Department within the Innovation and Digital Development Agency is conducting radiological and radioecological studies in southern border areas of Azerbaijan, including Astara, Lankaran, Masalli, Jalilabad, and Bilasuvar.
