Azerbaijani ombudsman calls on international community to condemn Armenia's provocations
Azerbaijani Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva called on the international community to condemn the latest provocations of Armenia.
The Ombudsman's Office issued a statement in connection with Armenia's armed provocation on April 11, Report says.
The statement says that despite repeated appeals to the international community and demands to stop military provocations by Armenia to ensure peace and security in the region, these provocations continue. This means that Armenia is not interested in the peace process and has not abandoned its aggressive intentions.
"Armenia impedes the peace process in the region by grossly violating the norms and principles of international law and international humanitarian law. As the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I once again appeal to the world community to show a firm stance on stopping Armenia's military provocations and restoring peace," the statement reads.
On April 11, units of the Armenian armed forces from their positions located in the direction of the settlement of Digh, Gorus region, subjected the Azerbaijani army positions in the direction of the Lachin region to intense fire from small arms. The Azwerbaijani Defence Ministry reported the death and injury of Azerbaijani servicemen as a result of an Armenian provocation.
