Azerbaijani president sign order on creation of reserve in liberated Khojavand's Tugh village

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order "On the establishment of the State Historical-Architectural and Natural Reserve Tugh.

According to Caliber.Az, information about this is posted on the official website of the head of Azerbaijan.

The Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to designate and approve the boundaries of the reserve and the buffer zone within two months, determine a special regime on the territory of the reserve and inform the president about this, and take the necessary measures to provide the reserve with logistics.

The management of the reserve is entrusted to the State Tourism Agency.

The Tugh village was liberated from almost 30 years of Armenian occupation in the course of the 44-day war in 2020. Following the liberation, Azerbaijan launched grand reconstruction projects in the liberated lands.

The foundation stone for the first residential quarter in the village of Tugh of the Khojavand district has been laid, APA reported on May 5.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the quarter.

The residential quarter occupies a total area of nearly 99 hectares. The first phase will see the restoration of 24 historical houses and the construction of 95 houses for 1089 people.

The quarter will have a 360-seat school, a 50-seat kindergarten, shopping centres, a mosque, a church, a medical point, a pharmacy, etc.

The head of state laid the foundation stone for the first residential quarter in the village of Tugh.

The Azerbaijani village of Tugh in the Khojavand district has a very good tourist potential, Chairman of the Board of Management of Nature Reserves of the State Agency for Tourism Murad Aghabayli told Trend.

“Tugh is one of the oldest and most beautiful villages in Azerbaijan. At the same time, Tugh has a very good tourist potential. In order to prepare the concept of tourism in the village of Tugh, we chose three main directions. The first of these directions is the development of cultural tourism with the preservation of the historical architectural style of the village, followed by the development of ecotourism using the rich nature of Tugh in the second, and as the third direction, the potential of agrotourism, which the village of Tugh has. We are thinking of developing tourism in this direction, using the agritourism potential,” he said.
