Azerbaijani president sends condolences to US counterpart over devastating Texas floods
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter of condolences to US President Donald Trump over the recent deadly flooding that hit Texas, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The letter reads:
“Dear Mr. President,
We were deeply shocked by the news of the devastating floods in the state of Texas, which have caused numerous casualties and destruction.
In light of this tragedy, I extend my deepest condolences to you, the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, and the entire American people, on behalf of myself and the people of Azerbaijan, and wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
From July 4 to 7, Central Texas, particularly the Texas Hill Country, experienced one of the deadliest flooding events in recent U.S. history, claiming at least 104 lives and leaving dozens missing. The disaster was reportedly triggered by a mesoscale convective complex, fueled in part by the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry, which dumped 5–11 inches of rain in a few hours, with some areas seeing up to 15 inches. The Guadalupe River, a focal point of the flooding, surged dramatically, rising 26 feet in 45 minutes in Kerrville and up to 29 feet in Hunt, overwhelming communities and infrastructure.
