Azerbaijani president launches cutting-edge centres in Khankandi to spur regional growth PHOTO

03 July 2025 15:15

On July 3, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the official opening ceremonies of the newly established Khankandi Business Center and the Khankandi Congress Center, both key infrastructure projects aimed at revitalizing the liberated city of Khankandi.

Khankandi Business Centre: Advancing economic development

The Khankandi Business Centre, a component of the broader Khankandi Hotel Complex, was inaugurated in the presence of President Aliyev. Ramin Guluzade, Head of the President's Administrative Services Department, briefed the president on the center’s features and operations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The four-story complex spans over 4,500 square meters and is equipped with 24 office spaces and six meeting rooms. It also includes a range of amenities such as the “Zefir Cafe & Terrace” restaurant with a 120-guest capacity, as well as stationery and printing services, dry cleaning, and laundry facilities.

Established as part of Azerbaijan’s post-liberation reconstruction initiatives, the centre is designed to meet modern management standards and provide a high-quality business environment for companies operating in the region. It is expected to serve a wide range of entrepreneurial and corporate entities, contributing to employment growth and economic activity in the city.

In its initial phase, the Business Center will employ 20 individuals, 12 of whom are residents of Khankandi, Khojaly, Shusha, and other liberated areas. Among them is one veteran of the Patriotic War, underscoring the center’s commitment to inclusive development.

Khankandi Congress Centre: Hub for national and international dialogue

Also on July 3, President Ilham Aliyev participated in the inauguration of the Khankandi Congress Centre, another landmark development in the city’s transformation.

Covering 6,500 square metres, the Congress Centre is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technical infrastructure. It features a 600-seat event hall configured for theatrical presentations and a banquet hall capable of hosting 350 guests. Additional spaces include multiple conference and meeting rooms, designed to accommodate a wide range of events.

The building’s architectural design successfully blends contemporary aesthetics with traditional Azerbaijani elements, offering a versatile venue for congresses, conferences, seminars, business meetings, and other nationally and internationally significant gatherings.

In its initial operational stage, the Congress Centre has created 12 permanent jobs—eight of which have been filled by residents of Khankandi, Khojaly, Kalbajar, and other territories formerly under occupation.

With its comprehensive functionality and modern design, the Khankandi Congress Centre stands out as one of the flagship projects supporting the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
