President Aliyev: Azerbaijan-Ukraine ties rest on strong political foundation
Azerbaijan and Ukraine have reaffirmed the strength of their bilateral relations, highlighting a solid political foundation and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, including energy.
“I remember my visit to Kyiv in January 2022. The exchange of views we had with you (Volodymyr Zelenskyy – ed.) and our subsequent contacts have consistently raised Ukraine-Azerbaijan relations to a high level. Our cooperation has a very strong political foundation,” President Ilham Aliyev said during a joint press statement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Caliber.Az reports via Azertag.
The head of state underlined that both countries continue to support each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity on international platforms.
“Azerbaijan and Ukraine mutually support, and will continue to support, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries in all international organizations.”
President Aliyev also stressed that bilateral cooperation remains active and productive across various fields.
“We are successfully cooperating in many directions today. This cooperation was once again confirmed today,”Aliyev said.
Highlighting energy cooperation as a key pillar of the partnership, the Azerbaijani leader pointed to both existing achievements and future opportunities.
Noting that, in addition to political dialogue, the issues discussed today especially included cooperation in the energy sector, the head of state said: “There are both achievements here – SOCAR has been successfully operating in Ukraine for many years – and, at the same time, there are very good prospects and joint projects.”
The president also emphasized that discussions covered military-technical cooperation, describing it as an area with significant potential.
“An exchange of views was held regarding military-technical cooperation, and there are very great prospects here as well,” President Aliyev said.
“The military-industrial complex is developing in both Azerbaijan and Ukraine, and there are excellent opportunities here for joint production – and for joint production in the industrial sector in general,” the head of state emphasized.
