Baku airport breaks records Q1 FIGURES / SCHEDULES
Passenger flow at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport has significantly increased in January-March this year.
The airport served more than 1.464 million passengers, which is 38.2 per cent more than in the corresponding period of 2023 (when this figure amounted to 1.058 million people), the airport's press service told Caliber.Az.
During the reporting period, 39 airlines, 15 of which are low-cost carriers, performed 12.378 thousand flights. Compared to January-March 2023, international routes carried 43.5 per cent more - 1.319 million passengers. Foreign airlines served 656 thousand passengers, while national air carrier - 662 thousand passengers. Since the beginning of the year more than 144 thousand passengers have been carried in Nakhchivan direction.
The most popular international destinations among passengers were Istanbul, Abu Dhabi, Tbilisi, Dubai and Moscow. One of the important achievements for the first 3 months of 2024 is also an increase in the number of transit passengers at Baku Airport. Compared to last year, the number of transit passengers increased by 82.7 per cent and amounted to more than 72 thousand people.
