Pakistani PM to lead high-level delegation to Azerbaijan for trade talks
In a bid to enhance economic and diplomatic relations with the South Caucasus, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is gearing up for an official visit to Azerbaijan in February.
As part of Pakistan's broader "Vision for Central Asia" strategy, Sharif will lead a high-profile delegation to Baku, aiming to secure a range of agreements that will boost bilateral cooperation, Caliber.Az reports via Pakistani media.
The visit, scheduled for the third week of February, will see Sharif accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, along with key federal ministers and business leaders. Their mission: to establish stronger economic ties with Azerbaijan and pave the way for lucrative trade partnerships.
“Pakistan plans to sign several agreements with Azerbaijan during this visit, focusing on expanding economic cooperation,” an insider revealed. These agreements are expected to lay the groundwork for a new chapter in trade relations between the two countries.
After Azerbaijan, Sharif will travel to Uzbekistan for a two-day visit, where he intends to propose using Karachi port for transit trade and secure additional trade deals to enhance regional connectivity.
With these visits, Pakistan is positioning itself as a key player in Central Asia’s economic landscape, ready to forge new alliances and unlock opportunities for mutual growth.
