Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan consider joint fuel production

Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are considering joint production of petroleum products, including automotive and aviation fuel, Uzbek Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjaev has said.

According to him, Uzbekistan has been invited to join as a partner in a new oil refinery under construction in Azerbaijan, with the possibility of subsequently importing part of the products manufactured there, Caliber.Az reports, citing Uzbek media.

The two countries are also expanding cooperation in hydrocarbon production on the Ustyurt Plateau and in implementing a project to export “green” energy from Uzbekistan to Europe via Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

Khodjaev noted that the joint projects could help ensure a stable supply of petroleum products to Uzbekistan’s domestic market.
