Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company commissions 35 modern vessels since 2013 PHOTO
Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Closed Joint Stock Company (ASCO) has successfully commissioned 35 new, state-of-the-art vessels since 2013, significantly enhancing its fleet's capabilities and capacity.
According to Mehman Mehdiyev, spokesperson for the ASCO, the company’s fleet includes a diverse range of vessels, Caliber.Az reports.
Among the 35 newly commissioned ships are 5 tankers, including one Aframax-type tanker, 8 universal dry cargo ships, 2 Handysize-type dry cargo ships, 2 Ro-Pax-type ferries, one tugboat-support vessel, 7 support vessels, one harbor tugboat, 3 passenger vessels, and 5 small-capacity tugs.
Between 2018 and 2023, ASCO introduced six new vessels to its fleet, comprising two Ro-Pax ferries and four tankers. Looking ahead, from 2022 to 2024, the company has placed orders for 13 more vessels, including one Ro-Pax ferry, three 8,000-ton chemical tankers, three fast passenger vessels, four diving vessels, and two 9,800-ton dry bulk carriers.
These vessels have been meticulously designed to prioritize energy efficiency and minimize environmental impact, reflecting ASCO’s commitment to sustainable shipping practices.
The new vessels are expected to be delivered within the next two to three years, further modernizing the company’s operations in the Caspian Sea region.
ASCO’s investment in modern maritime infrastructure is poised to enhance Azerbaijan’s shipping industry while reinforcing the country’s role as a key player in regional maritime trade.
