Azerbaijan-Croatia relations flourish with strong trade performance in 2024
The mutual trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Croatia for January-November 2024 amounted to $878,236,120, which is 1.6 times higher than the same period last year.
The information was provided by the State Customs Committee, per Caliber.Az.
According to statistical data, Azerbaijan's export volume to Croatia for the first 11 months of 2024 reached $873,440,820, reflecting a 1.6 times increase. The export share accounted for 3.59% (compared to 1.7% in January-November 2023). Meanwhile, the import volume from Croatia grew by 7.6%, reaching $4,795,300. The import share remained at 0.03% (the same as in January-November 2023).
Croatia recognized Azerbaijan's independence on December 28, 1991. Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia were first established on January 26, 1995.
The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Croatia has been operational since February 2011.
Since April 2019, Croatia’s diplomatic representation in Azerbaijan was located in Ankara, Türkiye. It later moved to Baku.
On April 29, 2019, the Embassy of Croatia was officially opened in Azerbaijan.
During the official visit of Ilham Aliyev to Croatia in 2013, the Zagreb Declaration on strategic partnership and friendly relations was signed.
On April 29, 2019, a joint Azerbaijan-Croatia business forum was held under the initiative of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan. The forum was attended by representatives of over 80 enterprises from various sectors.
On September 1, 2024, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) began gas supplies to Croatia.
