Baku files criminal case into Armenians' Azerbaijani embassy attack in France
The Azerbaijani Prosecutor-General's Office has filed a criminal case into the Armenians' attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in France.
The law-enforcement agency made the remarks about this in its statement posted on its website on September 19, Caliber.Az reports.
"Video footage was distributed in many local and foreign media on September 18, showing the attempt made by several members of a radical Armenian group to forcibly enter the administrative building of the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in France. Proceeding from the preliminary investigation, unknown members of the radical group, upon a prior agreement, violated the requirements of the International Convention dated December 14, 1973 'On the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons, including Diplomatic Agents'," Caliber.Az reports citing the statement.
Those individuals were suspected of trying to enter the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in France, as well as damaging the administrative building by using items as weapons on September 18.
The prosecutor general initiated a criminal case under Articles 12.3, 102 (attack on people or organisations having international protection) and 12.3, 186.1 (deliberate destruction or damage of other people's property) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code. The investigation was entrusted to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
The Prosecutor-General's Office has requested legal assistance for investigating the criminal case within joint cooperation with the French competent agencies.
The necessary measures are being taken in accordance with international norms and principles to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice through a comprehensive, complete and objective investigation.
